Wednesday Woe is Me

I'm sorry for the lack of posts this week. I am deathly ill. OK not deathly, but it's to the point that I probably shouldn't be going to work seeing as how it hurts to talk and I may or may not have been fighting a low grade fever the last couple of days, but I really can't afford to take the time off and I've been trying to convince myself that it will go away soon. If I'm not improving by tomorrow then I might have to go to the doctor.
I hate going to the doctor.
Boo.
Also, it's like 85 degrees and it's going to be nice and sunny for the rest of the week--not ideal weather for a diet that consists of hot chicken noodle soup, tea and Dayquill. I really want ice cream, but I know that's not gonna make my throat happy. And I didn't go to Zumba tonight, so my bootie doesn't need ice cream either. Sigh.

Hoping I feel better soon so I can get back to my normal life!
Happy Wednesday!

Fashion Friday

Here's an outfit I wore for my interview last week. It's kind of my staple interview outfit: white shirt, black skirt, and a cardigan. Usually I wear flats, I'm not sure what possessed me to wear heels for this interview--it was a rainy day and there was no parking at the school so I had to park across the street and walk a ways and then up a lot of stairs to enter the school!
I apologize for the horrible pictures! I was home alone and it was rainy outside. Hope you enjoy the sneak peek at my ugly upstairs. Do you like the green carpet & the fun house-esque mirrored doors? ;)
What I Wore: blouse: (old) similar // skirt: (old) // cardigan: old navy // heels: Payless

Leaving you with a closeup! Notice the tan lines I have from the lanyard I wear everyday? hehe.

Happy Friday & have a great weekend!

Throwback Thursday

Here's a little throwback for you! My junior year of college I was in a tap piece for my dance department's spring concert. My friend and I were highlighted in the piece as a duo. We are both short and blonde and we got to wear coordinating outfits so we referred to ourselves as Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum :)

Here's my version of a Spring inspired Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum outfit. Enjoy!

Look for Less

I adore Kate Spade. Unfortunately my wallet does not. She is way out of my price range! There's a little store in my small little town that sells a mix of high-end designer finds as well as more inexpensive items and they once had a used Kate Spade purse for $48 that looked brand new--I am still kicking my self for not getting it! I love the clean lines and modest charm of her designs.
Nordstrom $298.50
Nordstrom $411
Dress Barn $125
I was pleased when I came across this dress at the Dress Barn--it looks similar to Kate Spade's style but it is WAY cheaper! At $125 it is still a little pricey, but if you want the look for less, this is the way to go! I love the high neckline; as a busty girl I almost always have cleavage even if the dress was not designed with that intention. I also love the pleats in the waist line and the Navy blue and silver stripes. Just lovely.
Do you have any look for less finds?

Have a great Tuesday!

Easter

Jesus is Risen! With him he brings life for all who seek!

What I Wore: Cardigan: Old Navy // Dress: Dress Barn (old) similar & similar // Shoes (old) similar

please ignore my chapped lips and focus on the pretty eyeshadow ;)

Easter Sunday fell on my Mom's birthday this year. We had a brunch at my parents' house to celebrate. This is a picture of our Easter Table. We got a pink champagne cake for my Mom :)

My Mom bought all these colorful  Easter candies at World Market.

Spring flowers and champagne for mimosas.

The hubby & I--yes I know we are matching, but I don't care they are pretty colors!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend!

Fashion Friday

tshirt: Old Navy // blazer (old): similar // jeans: Calvin Klein (similar) // shoes (old) similar //
// necklace: Charming Charlie (similar) //

I recently had a conversation about how I love statement necklaces and I own quite a few of them, but I'm not really sure how to work them into an every day look. It was suggested to me that you can pair a statement necklace with a simple tshirt and jeans. So I tried it for my dance team banquet earlier this week. Love it! Charming Charlie has TONS of GORGEOUS necklaces right now. I linked every thing for similar links, but for the record my outfit was way cheaper than the the links! I got the Calvin Klein jeans from Ross Dress for Less for like $20 bucks. I don't get to get dressed up very often, (yes this is dressing up for me--I wear athletic clothes for work 5 days a week!) but I am going to start trying to find an excuse at least once a week to wear some normal clothes!

Have a great Easter weekend!

For the Birds

This lovely, rainy morning I had to run something to my husband that he forgot because he is being observed today for his student teaching. While I was waiting for him to come out I was watching some little birds twit around the parking lot. I know I've already posted about birds, but I LOVE birds. This particular morning they struck me funny.

There was 2 little black birds, and one big black bird. They were all taking turns pecking at what looked to be probably gum that someone spat in the parking lot. Then they would fly away and come back. They walk around with the little head bob that I love, like "oh yeah, I'm cool. I'm a bird". haha. I had fun narrating in my head what they were thinking when one bird made the decision to randomly fly away and perch on a tree a few feet away. I'm dorky like that :)

Anywho, here are some more lovely bird frocks to admire. Perhaps someday when I win the lottery (or get a    full time job!) I will get to buy a few of them. In the mean time I will continue to admire them from afar and                           keep trying to re-invent the clothing I already have to make it look more fashionable.

Oh and speaking of full time jobs--I have a video interview today at 4:30 for every PE job in my school district that is going to be available. I am slightly nervous--Pray for me please!

Wednesday Wisdom

Source: My painting. I love trees :)

This is for anyone struggling with the fear of rejection today. I know I am. I have a video interview tomorrow for every single PE job in my district that is going to be distributed to the principals with openings. I am also waiting to hear back on an interview for a dance coach position I applied for. I just need to focus on the now and remember that whatever the outcome, God has a plan for me and he will prevail. I will not be cut down.

Have a happy Wednesday!

Weekend Excursion

Hello! I hope you had a great weekend & were able to get through your Monday! For some reason I am having a hard time getting back on track and posting on Mondays haha. So my planned Monday post has been coming to you on Tuesday :)

This weekend we went on a small town excursion ;) My dad was invited to go watch a country band called The North Santiam Band,  play at a bar in Stayton (a tiny little country town in Oregon). So my husband and I went with him and my mom out into the boonies late in the evening and we only got lost a little bit (we know our way around we just don't usually go the way we did in the dark!)
The band was pretty good! I enjoyed listening to them and visiting with my parents. My parents do not drink or go to bars hardly ever, so it was a little out of our box but it was fun!

Ha. I ordered a rum & coke--it was Rum with a splash of coke! I don't drink that often so it's kind of my go to drink if I'm ordering a drink and not beer, but I definitely prefer mine to have more coke!

Well, my husband's not a very good photographer haha. My mom & I accidentally wore turquoise tops with a white shirt and jeans, the same shoes, and black and white purses. I guess you could say I get my style choices from her haha.
This picture is a little better. My dad bought us flowers from a flower vendor that came to the bar, who happened to be someone he went to high school with. Yes we are small town folk.

My flowers are still pretty today :)

Did you do anything fun/interesting this weekend?
Have a great Tuesday!

It's Friday!

It's a beautiful spring day and the tulips are blooming get and enjoy it!

Have a great weekend :)

Disney Kick

Alright, apparently I am on a Disney Kick this week. I finally saw Frozen this past weekend so now I know what all the hype is about haha. Very cute movie and lovely music. I saw this quiz recently and I'm a sucker for quizzes so I took it,
Click here to take the quiz
And here's the character I got:

Haha, Really? The moose? Oh well, I'm a little unconventional at times, so I'm a little proud that I didn't get one of the princesses--although I'm still a princess!

Here's a Sven inspired outfit from Polyvore by Tallybow to top it off!

Have a great day & if you're in the Oregon Valley enjoy the beautiful weather!

Wednesday Wisdom

Via Katie Daisy TheWheatField

This past weekend I had a delightful time visiting my husband's family to celebrate my brother-in-law's 40th birthday. It was a huge party! It was especially nice to get to visit with my sister-in-law for the weekend. We watched the movie "Saving Mr. Banks" about how Walt Disney made the movie Mary Poppins. It movie was interesting and enjoyed it very much.

At the most pivotal part of the movie (in my opinion) Walt Disney has to chase the author of Mary Poppins and have a heart to heart with her over the whole process. You need to see the movie to understand the context, but Walt Disney shares a difficult story about his dad, and the point is he says to her to CHOOSE TO REMEMBER THE GOOD!

I think we all have been hurt and let down by people we love in our lives. We cannot, however, live life to the fullest when we are hung up on bad things that have happened and choose to forget all of the good things that happen too.

So I guess my advice today is to think of someone you feel bitter toward or hurt by, and think of one good memory you have of them and focus on that when the anger or bitterness start to creep up on you. I know, easier said than done, but it's worth a try!

Remember the good today!

Miranda Lambert!

I watched the ACM awards Sunday night and was thrilled to see my favorite country singer win for Female vocalist of the year for the 5th year in a row!
I was once asked if I could switch places with anyone for a day who would it be: I answered Miranda Lambert! She is my alter ego! She is super sassy--like my "closet hippo" tendencies. I lover her music and I love that she is not stick skinny. While I don't always love her fashion choices, I adored her country outfits for the ACM awards!
I would totally dress like this all the time if it was appropriate. I am from a small town in the country, but if I wore sparkly boots and fringe skirts just because I would get some funny looks! Anyway, I have put together some wardrobe items inspired my Miranda's looks last night. I tried to stay within a price range that I can actually afford, although the boots are a little on the spend side.

Shopbop
Anthropologie
I LOVE these boots from Anthropologie, in silver & gold. These would be a splurge though and I am on a shopping hiatus right now :(

I hope you feel a little bit country today!
