Newsies come to Portland!!!!

Last weekend, I got to fulfill my childhood dream: Seeing the Newsies on Brodway!!
Not that, when I was a child it was on Broadway, but it has been a family favorite since I can remember. "Spot Collins" was so dreamy haha.
It came to Portland close to my Mom's birthday so I treated us to the show :)

It did not disappoint! The music and dancing was amazing! I got teary-eyed as I watched, because I love dance and music so much, it's really amazing to see such talented people present their talents live. I really miss performing.

These songs always get stuck in my head! I totally wanted to sing along to every song!
I even got my picture with a Newsie!
We later went shopping at Bridgeport Village and caught happy hour at Twigs Martini Bar, which we have wanted to try for a long time!
We shared bbq chicken flat bread and Kahlua pulled pork tacos--they were yummy!
We got to sit by the cool fireplace, people watch, see some high school girls in beautiful prom dresses--saw lot many lovely things from Anthropologie to Charming Charlie and Barnes and Nobel. We're making plans to go back and buy a complete outfit from Talbots.
Oh and we indulged in this lovely lemon drop :)

Backyard Summer Dreams

With all the warm spring weather we've been having lately, Joel and I have started, slowly but surely, working on getting our backyard ready for the summer.
I've even named our backyard: "Everett Oasis" ;)
We purchased a Pergola from Lowes, and unfortunately, it looks like the price has gone up since we bought it! We ordered on line and it was delivered for free.
I've been longing for a pergola to hang a chandelier from for so long!
It's definitely a dream come true. Eventually I'd like to get a different chandelier, and we're still trying to figure out how to get it to hang straight!
We bought a new patio set, that we still have to put together, and we have a bunch more globe lights to hang! I got anxious and just haphazardly strung them up to a tree.
Speaking of the tree, I have plans for this one: I want to make a DIY bar to set here, and hang a disco ball above it, and I want to make an "Everett Oasis" sign for the bar.
Here are some ideas I have for the bar. I've found some DIY ideas on Pinterest. I'm going for more of the pallet look, but it's me, so I'll probably have some touch of the cute pink & white one.
Oh yeah, let the summer of "Everett Oasis" begin!
Wait--what? It's only April you say?
Oh no! 8 more weeks of school still!
Summer come soon!

Spring Decor

I decorated a tiny bit for spring, but I never actually had anyone over to visit.
I'm also being lazy about writing tonight, so here's some pictures!

The Band Perry at Spirit Mountain Casino

Joel surprised me with The Band Perry Tickets for Valentines Day this year.
So last Friday, after school, I got dressed up and off we went to Spirit Mountain Casino.
Their lights were super cool! It was such a fun show! Joel & I have been digging The Band Perry since we first saw them at the Oregon Jamboree about 7 or so years ago!
We were pretty much at the very back, but it was a pretty small venue, so it wasn't bad at all!
We got down to "Fat Bottom Girls" and "Live Forever" as well as some other favorites, and the ladies behind us were a hoot!
And excuse to get dressed up! I've been dying to wear this beaded fringe necklace with my fringe booties!
Such a fun date night!
Thank you Joel :)
We hope to see you again Band Perry!

Las Vegas Vacation: SLS Pool

Our last day in Vegas, we decided it was time to hit up the pool.
Strawberry Daquari in hand, I finally got some sun!

We had such a nice relaxing time at the pool until...
We were really dumb and didn't wear sunscreen and got so burned that we just went back to our hotel and took a nap, and didn't go out anywhere for our last night because we were in so much pain!
This picture was taken as we were getting ready to leave for the airport the next morning.
You can't really see my sun burn, but I'm still peeling! So stupid.
The plane ride home wasn't the best...had to fly to Phoenix before flying back to Portland...2 and half hours in the middle seat between 2 strangers. Not fun.
And this was the weather difference.
At least we've had some sun here in Oregon the last few days!
I miss you Las Vegas!
