Do Work!

via Pinterest
I've already experienced quite a few set backs so far in trying to plan for next year! Having issues with finding an appropriate space for my dance team to practice and just getting used to my knew school. I came across this quote and I decided it's my mantra for year. I'm gonna do the best I can until I learn learn more and then do better!
I can't believe I will finally be teaching my own PE classes next week!
Happy Friday & Have a great weekend!

The life of a short curvy woman...

This past weekend I got to help my beautiful cousin celebrate her birthday. My two cousins are on the left and my cousin's best friend is next to me. It was nice to visit because I don't get to see them very often! I have to say, however, that this picture is the story of my life...the short chunk on the end! Definitely brought back some memories....
Short chunk on the end...I had horrible tan lines in this wedding! The groom told me it was OK because it was a read neck wedding any way haha. Oh boy.
Short chunk on the end...at least my tan lines were gone in this picture!!
One thing I can say, is that even though I have a different pose in the first picture I posted, I am pleased to say that I can notice my arms are getting skinnier! Maybe all the Zumba and jog/walking and hiking I've been doing this summer is starting to pay off a little!

Willamette Country Music Festival Day 3

I am so glad I was raised in a small country town! Visiting the city is nice, but they can keep their shopping malls and their traffic. I'll take the occasional butt crack on the side of the road and tractors holding up traffic on the back roads if it means I get to enjoy the beautiful pine trees and farmers fields and the smell of the country side in the twilight.
Day three we started out watching Pam Tillis. I didn't really know who she was until I saw her here. My parents had seen her father, Mel Tillis, a few years ago in concert. I did recognize a couple of her songs and even the ones I didn't know were still pretty cute.
I adore her pink cowboy boots.
She brought a bunch of the guys helpers up on stage to reminisce about one her music videos when she had a bunch of strong guys carry her around all day.
The traditional but shake that guys do when they are "dancing". No country girls shaking it!

Next up was Sara Evans. I saw Sara Evans in concert over 10 years ago at the Oregon State Fair. I was pretty excited at the time because I just bought her new CD and "Back Seat of the Greyhound Bus" had just been released. I was looking forward to seeing her again because she has a beautiful voice. To be honest, I did not enjoy her concert. She was kind of weird. She mostly stayed on the left side of the stage and sang to the left side. She also walked out on the cat walk and stayed there pretty much the entire show instead of staying on the stage with her band. To top it off, the last 3 songs she sang were pop songs that aren't hers and she didn't even sing "Back Seat of the Greyhound Bus". I was not impressed with her performance.
Loved being surrounded by the hills of trees.

So many people!
Here's our family picture! Met up with my Brother & Sister-in-Law and my adorable nephew. He's too cute!
What I Wore: Tank: American Eagle (outlets) // Shorts: Target // Boots: Madden Girl // Earrings: BeeCrowBee (Joseph, Oregon)
We saw someone else walking around with these nachos and decided that's what we had to get for dinner. We got the last dollop of sour cream!
These nachos fed all three of us!
The last concert of the weekend was Blake Shelton. He was the perfect act to close out the show! I got to see him 4 years ago right after he came out with Hillbilly Bone. He was great then, but it's crazy how many more hit songs he has had since then! This time every single song he sang was his and they were all hits.
Sunset. There was an older couple a few rows a head of me that had a cut out of Blake Shelton wearing a plaid shirt and they wore matching plaid shirts. It was really cute. I wish I would have gotten a picture of them but the concert started before I could get to them.
Black Shelton really is just a great entertainer. He is so funny! He totally called out this old couple and showed them on the big screen because the guy was groping his wife during "Ol' Red". He went on and on and then finally told him he was going to sing a romantic song next for them.
He took us back to his old days and sang some of his first big hits, and reminded us of his cowboy hat and mullet :)

He got us all to wave our cell phones to his song Home. All in all it was just a great end to a fabulous weekend. I loved spending time with my parents, and people watching, and listening to the music, and dressing country cute. Country music festivals are so much fun. Next summer I think I might want to camp out! I guess I will have to make sure to go to one that's not the same time as football camp though!

Happy Wednesday Y'all!

Willamette Country Music Festival Day 2

Day 2 of the festival was another long day! I had to get up super early in the morning & drive back home (about an hour drive) to take a CPR refresher course for coaching and then drive back to my parents'. We spent some time at my brother's camp site before we went in to watch, and again we had to wait in line for a looong time! At least this time we only missed the first couple of songs and not half of the show!
First up was Thompson Square. Well, they were the first that we saw anyway. We missed a couple of other acts when we were visiting with my brother & sister-in-law.
I've always thought Thompson Square had cute songs but I haven't really been a huge fan. Well, after seeing them in concert I am definitely a fan! They were just adorable. They seemed to genuinely enjoy performing. During one of their songs "If I didn't have you" the husband of the duo totally stole a couple of kisses.
I thoroughly enjoyed their concert and I definitely recommend going to see them if you get the chance!
The sunset was beautiful!

Can't beat these views.
Surrounded by trees.
My dad loves country music. We had to take a picture in our country get up.
My lovely parents. I was the 3rd wheel for the weekend because my hubs had football stuff to do :( But I don't think they minded me tagging along :)
What I wore: dress: uoionline.com (similar) (similar) // Boots: Madden Girl (similar) // Earrings: Kohls (old).
Ran in to a friend & got photo bombed by a stranger who apparently likes siriracha hot chili sauce ;)
It was soo hot! My mom & I got some much needed Hawaiian shaved ice. It was exactly what we needed because we were pretty miserable in the heat and the dust!
I got cherry & pineapple, and she got blackberry peach.
The headliner for the night: ERIC CHURCH! I love him! I feel like a lot of his songs have more interesting sounds than your average country song. I think the song that made me really start to like Eric Church was "Homeboy".

He didn't have to talk much because his music was so great! But when he did talk it was meaningful. He talked about making memories and how he remembered when he was at a Bruce Springsteen concert when he realized that singing and entertaining was what he wanted to do.
I'm really glad I finally got to see Eric Church-I've been wanting to for a long time and he did not disappoint!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Willamette Country Music Festival: Day 1

I'm back! I have had a heck of a Monday morning, but after a frustrating morning I found out I have the day off! So I guess I'll forgive Monday then :)
This past weekend I got to go the Willamette Country Music Festival in small town not far away from my parents house where I grew up. I don't have many pictures from the 1st night because I was pretty tired. I had gone to an all day meeting for new teachers in my district before heading over.
The first day we got there later in the evening. The sun was setting and it was beautiful.
My mom and I got a Hawaiian plate and a strawberry lemonade.
There was pretty lights set up in the covered eating area.
The first night we got to see Montgomery Gentry and Gary Allan. We missed like half of Montgomery Gentry's show because it took FOREVER to get our bracelets and the get in. Lines were long!
This is what it is like to be a short person at a music festival. When everyone stands up, you really can't see anything. Also, those 2 people in the middle of the picture were right in front of me and they fondled each other for the entire concert. Festival Etiquette people: I didn't come to watch you grab your wife's butt all night!
I'm not a huge Gary Allan fan, but he has some really beautiful songs. He's not really an entertainer though he just pretty much sings his songs. Personally, I like it when the artists talk to the audience.
I'll leave you with the lyrics to my favorite song that he sang. It even made me tear up a little.

"One More Time"
What will I say?
Lookin' back upon this life
Standin' there at the pearly gates
To a golden street paradise
Feelin' humble, no room up there for pride
What will I say?

Well, I know that I've
Messed up more than a time or two
I've lived like hell, I've done it well
And I've got the scars to prove
When I show up alone at heaven's door
Will I be proud of what I've done
Or will I be begging for

One more time
One more chance
One more trip around the sun
One more dance
Another day
To get it right
Yeah, one more kiss
One more touch
Another song
Another night
Just one more time

Just wanna make sure
That I did it all right
I just wanna make sure
I loved and cared and gave with all my might
'Cause there'll be a moment
Yeah, there always is
When I won't get another day like this

One more time
One more chance
One more trip around the sun
One more dance
Another day
To get it right
Yeah, one more kiss
One more touch
Another song
Another night
Just one more time

Happy Monday!
