Happy Halloween

This is the only Halloween decor I have! I'm not dressing up tonight because I'll be at my husband's last league football game out of town. I think the last time I dressed up for Halloween was about 5 years ago! Have a fun & safe Halloween :)

Wednesday Wisdom

Today's Wisdom: It pays off to wait & be patient!
I have had my eye on this vest from Jcrew for a while now but at $108 I was never going to pull the trigger. I just found a knockoff from GroopDealz for $29.99! GroopDealz is a site that is like Zulilly and others where you have to create a login and they send emails each week with deals for discounted items. Check it out quick because the deals only last for a small time period.

Happy Wednesday!

Tuesday Wishes

A picture from my evening yesterday. I'd like to be able to say that this was how I spent my entire evening: drinking chamomile tea with a candle and watching "Catching Fire", in reality I spent 30 minutes like this after getting home from dance practice, eating dinner and showering before I zonked out.
I have been sick with a cough and a stuffed up nose now, for going on 3 weeks. I really wish this is what I was doing today. I should probably take a sick day, but I really don't want to figure out a plan for a substitute and then figure out how to write it all out so that it makes sense. I'm gonna have to at some point though!

Happy Tuesday!

Fall is Officially Here

Well, it's finally starting to feel like Fall. Last week we got a lot of rain, and I found out that the parking lot at my school floods, but not until I walked in to ankle deep water on the way out to my car. Luckily, the rain stayed away long enough for us to have a dry Friday night football game (well the bleachers weren't dry, but we didn't get rained on!). To top it off my husband's team won! One more league game and then it's playoffs...inching my way closer to the end of high school football season ;)

What I Wore: Scarf: Target // Jacket: Forever 21 (old, similar) // Top: Old Navy (old, similar) //
Leggings: Old Navy // Shoes: Ross (old) // Lipstick: MAC Russian Red
My husband bought me these shoes for our 2nd Christmas together. It was our first Christmas alone together in in our own place. We were married a week before Christmas so our first Christmas was pretty chaotic! We went on a 5 day honeymoon & flew home Christmas Eve morning for his family's gathering, we stayed there and then drove to my parents' place Christmas morning and didn't get home until the day after Christmas. I always where these shoes to his football games :)
This outfit felt a little "Halloween-ish" to me. Red, black, leather & spiks? Not really my usual style, but spikes were really in when I bought this jacket last fall. I was influenced by all the fashion bloggers ;)
Anyway felt a little "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" in this get up (minus the Nikes!).

Here we go. Another week.
Happy Monday!

Fashion Friday

Just an outfit I got to wear a couple of weekends ago. I really love this dress from Old Navy. I got it this last spring. The color is vibrant and the fit is flattering. The dress has short sleeves and it's no longer available but there is on the exact same color and shape with 3 quarter length sleeves in stores now.
What I'm Wearing: Dress: Old Navy (similar) // Sweater: Target // Shoes: Payless (old) // Necklace: Charming Charlie (old) // Lip-color: Burt's Bees Apricot Lip Shimmer

I am so glad it's Friday. My week days are so busy, the weekend brings much needed rest!
Happy Friday Everyone :)

Teacher!

Things I get called more often than my actual name:

"Teacher!"
"Mrs. Gym"
"Mrs. Recess"
"Mrs. Everestt"
"Mrs..."
...Teacher!"

I need to make my lunch go to work...in like 10 minutes...but today I really just want to go back to bed!
Is it Friday yet?
Happy Tuesday ;)

Happy Fall DIY Banner

This weekend was mostly spent sleeping, drinking cold medicine & tea, and watching TV. I developed a cough over the week and luckily, in 2 days of rest, I have nursed it away! I decided earlier this week that I needed some Fall decor in my house, so I decided to make a banner.
I decided on the words "Happy Fall". This way I can leave it up all Fall, unlike if I made one that was geared toward Halloween or Thanksgiving (although, let's get real: I love these banners, I will probably make one for every holiday in the future!) I am so in love with Fall colors right now: burgundy, rose gold, bronze, brown, mustard-y yellows, and of course, I always love glitter :)
I have cardboard pennants that I got at a craft store that went out of business, and I used them as a template for my banner. I have not been able to find any at other craft stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby, obviously you could just cut out triangles. The pennants I have, though, have a scalloped edge. Also, I am just better in general, if I have a template to follow! Faster & no mess ups.
Supplies: scrapbooking paper (card stock is best), twine, foam glitter stickers, hole punch. I already had the solid colored paper on hand, but the patterned papers came from Target. The foam glitter stickers also came from Target and they were a great buy! It was $5.29 for a pack and it came with a set of gold, and a set of silver. Usually foam letter stickers of this size cost that much just for 1 set of the alphabet.
I'm pleased with how it turned out! Now I just need to move to a different place so I can have a fireplace mantle under it ;)

Happy Fall & Happy Monday!

Friday Night Lights

Last week the high school team that my husband coaches played my old high school for their homecoming. The final score was, like, 52-0...My high school lost. Not much has changed since I was in high school! I think my senior year our football team won 1 game. Oh well, at least our dance team was good ;)
The town that my husband and I live in has a huge 4th of July fireworks display every year, and they donate the leftovers to the high school for homecoming. After every touchdown they shoot one off and then at the end of the game they light off what was left!

Joel's parents came, my parents came & my younger brother. Here he is telling us details about the win :)

Even though being a football widow really sucks sometimes, it can be fun too. I am really proud of my husband for coaching in such a great football program. Tonight is going to be a HUGE game as we are ranked number 2 and we are playing the number 1 ranked team. I so hope we win!!

Happy Friday & Have a Great Weekend!

Fall Celebration

Every year my Sister-in-Law & Brother-in-Law throw a "Fall Celebration". This year was their 15th one! Basically it is a get together where we eat yummy fall themed foods and visit with family. She had lovely candles burning, and the whole house smelled like caramel apples. Classic Frank Sinatra and Nat King cole were playing in the background and there was just an all around cozy glow to the atmosphere. We sipped on apple cider cocktails and this year Hungarian Gulash was the main dish and it was delish!
This was the set up for the dining room table. My sister-in-law is very crafty and great at decoration. She scored her silver tea set at a garage sale for $7! It's so gorgeous and looked beautiful for her centerpiece. now I'm on the hunt for one (of course I have no where to put it at the moment, but hopefully Joel & I will be moving by the end of spring!)
For her table runner she just used brown butcher paper and cut the ends like a ribbon. Simple and cute.
I didn't take many pictures because I was busy visiting, but she took more pictures of her cute decor details and posted them on her blog "The Everett Six" if you would like to see more of the celebration :)
This is not a very appetizing picture, but I brought an appetizer that I found on pinterest. I wrapped brie cheese, a tart granny smith apple slice, a pecan, and drizzled with honey and seasoned with rosemary, in a crescent roll. They may not look very pretty but they tasted yummy! You can view the pin here.
It's not very often that I get to dress normal or cute so when I do, of course I have to document it.
What I wore: Sweater: Old Navy (old) // Top: JCPenney // Boots: ASOS

Here's a close up of the detail on the shirt!

Happy Fall & Happy Thursday!

80th Bday Party

A couple of weekends ago, we celebrated my Grandpa's 80th birthday. My mom put together this photo board of my Grandpa to celebrate. He has some pretty cool pictures as he served in the Korean War, he was an amateur boxer and just an all around busy guy.

My Grandpa loves history and politics, and black licorice ;)
We combined the celebration with my Grandpa's step-grandson's "100 Day" celebration, which is a traditional celebration in the Korean culture.
So we're not super sophisticated--we like pizza, chips and soda for a good party!
My Grandpa's wife is Korean and she made traditional Korean foods: pot stickers, waterlilly roots, kimchi, and other goodies. It was a fun blend of our two cultures.
For Baby Charles's 100 day celebration we wrote him well wishes for the future, and my mom got him his first set of chopsticks.
I love all of these pictures of my Grandpa. I am so lucky to have them.
And now comes the barrage of family pictures: one with all of the guys...

 One with all the ladies...
One with all of the grandkids that were there (were missing a few).
My youngest brother bought my Grandpa a "Beavers Grandpa" shirt. My Grandpa started his college degree at OSU and then transferred to UofO to finish and graduate. He always regretted it and so he never tells anyone that he graduated from UofO. It's the skeleton in his closet ;)
My Mom with baby Charles
My brothers & me with Grandpa (missing my older brother)
What I wore: Dress: Old Navy // Sweater: Target // Earrings: Old
Our family. Missing my hubs because he was sick, and my brother & his wife, but I love this picture. It was a very nice day!

  Happy Tuesday Everyone!
