Country Excursion

Sorry for the lack of posts last week, I got a little busy!
One of those busy days I was visiting my Mom & Sister In Law and we went to a very cool barn sale. A girl I went to high school with and her friend have a business called "Rustic Frills" and they collect rustic antiques and refurbish furniture and then they have a big sale once a year. It's a pretty big deal and this is the first time I have gone. It was so cool! Unfortunately I forgot my camera so I had to use my phone & the quality is not great, but I tried to get some pictures for you!

 I love this door.

This little area was set up for eating cupcakes. There was a bakery there selling cupcakes and their whole set up was adorable. I wish I had taken a picture of the counter where they were selling the cupcakes but it was crowded and the cupcake stand was pretty popular :)

Not the greatest picture of us but I had to document it!
Did you do anything fun this past week?
Hope you have a Happy Monday!

Beauty Review

WARNING: today you are going to see some really unflattering pictures of me for the sake of beauty!
I recently purchased a face & body luminizer/bronzer from Hard Candy. I am going to be honest--I totally bought it because it was shiny and gold and the word Glow just drew me in.
I've used it a couple of times so I thought it would be fun to do a review on it.
I purchased mine at Wal Mart. Wal Mart is the only place I have seen Hard Candy products, they might be sold somewhere else but in my neck of the woods, that's where it's at.
So here is a "before" picture of me, with absolutely zero makeup on, my hair is not done, and I pretty much just woke up, and I was trying to get the lighting of the picture to be accurate so I took it without a flash into the mirror, resulting in a bad angle for my face...don't judge me. ;)
Here is the "after" picture. Not a huge difference, but I do look slightly more "bronze". You cannot tell in the picture, but the bronzer is very shimmery, so if you were to see me in person in natural sunlight I might look like Edward Cullen when he hits the light (yes I just compared myself to a vampire, no I have not read the books, but I live in Oregon and we are pretty much all vampires 9 months out of the year!)

To be honest, it's not a product I would wear all the time. If I feel like looking a little extra shimmery and bronze and I have a reason to make my self  up, I might use it.

Now, get ready for this next picture where I did my hair & the rest of my makeup, and used a flash & different camera angle--It looks like a fairy came and magically turned me into a different person!
 and Viola!
Pale                                                Less Pale                            Camera & Makeup Magic

Well that was fun, maybe I'll do another beauty post eventually!
My advice for today: Get some real sun! (of course if you're in my neck of the woods right now there is none, so maybe you should go on vacation!)
Happy Tuesday!

Checking off the List!

Woohoo! On the first day of summer I visited my family & went hiking!
We hiked at McDowell Creek Falls just outside Lebanon--if you're ever in the area it's a beautiful hike and it's not too difficult.

With my parents & brother & sister-in-law & adorable nephew (on his first hike!)

BBQ & Smores later, my little brother & his girlfriend joined in!
It was a wonderful day!
How did you spend your first day of summer?

Summer Bucket List

Since tomorrow is the first official day of summer I thought it would be appropriate to share my summer bucket list. I am determined to accomplish it this Summer! The last two summers either I, or my husband were in summer school. We both are still busy this summer but a little less without school, and this year we planned ahead and wrote out our schedules so we know when we have free time!

In honor of summer I played around with some of my artwork in Photoshop and made some desktop artwork. Feel free to save it and use it! I think if you click on the image and the right click & open the image in a new tab it should expand to a bigger size before you save it.

It has been absolutely gorgeous all week and, ironically, this morning it is a little misty.
Oh Oregon and your bi-polar weather. Let's hope it clears up!
Have a great weekend!

Belated Father's Day Hommage

I know this is a little late but I just thought about what to post today.
One of my favorite movies has always been Father of the Bride. I have to say that during the whole wedding process my Dad definitely experienced some similar experiences to good old George Banks--weddings are expensive!! But I did my best to plan a wedding on a budget and I think my mom & I did a pretty good job!
I shared this picture because it reminds me of my favorite memory of my dad. My Dad is not a very emotional person and not real open about sharing his feelings. When it came to picking a song for the father daughter dance I didn't have one come to me immediately, but I heard the "My Little Girl" song by Tim McGraw, and I knew that my Dad really likes Tim McGraw. So I played a few songs for my Dad but when I played that one he started crying, and I knew that was the song! That is my favorite memory of my Dad to date. I know it's kind of a cliche wedding song, but to me it is extra special.

"You're beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl."

What's you're favorite memory of your dad?
Hope you have a happy Thursday!

Wednesday Wisdom

This quote is attributed to Jim Carey--who know's if he came up with it on his own, but I thought it was a pretty sentiment. Too often I worry about how everything's going to work out when what I really need to do is just follow the light & keep working hard!

Have a happy Wednesday!

Our Education Journey

My husband officially graduated with his Masters last Saturday. He chose not to walk in the ceremony. Since we both have our Master's Degrees now and we met in college I thought it would be fun to post all the graduation pictures from our undergrad through to our Master's.
 Joel's Bachelor's Degree Graduation from WOU-2010-just dating :)
My Bachelor's Degree Graduation from WOU-2011-Engaged!
 My Master's Degree Graduation from OSU-2013-Married :)
Joel's Master's Degree Graduation from WOU--2014-still married & excited for our new teaching jobs!!
It's fun to look back on how far we've come.
Joel is going to be full time teaching High School History & coaching football, I will be .75 teaching Elementary PE and coaching dance team.

Today is my official last day at the school I taught at this year. I will miss it but I am excited to actually get to teach my own PE classes.
Have a happy Tuesday!

Home Style

Here's a picture of what I did with the straws I bought myself for my birthday. I just think the colors are so pretty I had to display them somehow. I don't have a bar cart but I thought they looked cute on my little glass cabinet.

The flower painting is unfinished, but I figured if I posted an unfinished picture of it then it holds me accountable to finishing it this summer, right? ;)

Hope you are having a fantastic Monday!

Mileage Club

Sorry, if you're not a teacher, today's post might be a little boring for you ;)
Yesterday was the last day of school for students at my school. It was a huge celebration! We had our field day in the afternoon and an awards assembly in the morning.
I have been running a mileage club at my school all year and I got to give out some awards to my top runners. I gave them water bottles with a bracelet and star balloons that I wrote the number of miles they had each completed on. They were so cute and so thankful. It made me feel good to be able to honor them in front of their school. During recess one kid ran up and said "thank you Mrs. Everett!" and showed me that he had filled his water bottle up and was drinking from it already.
This is the bulletin board that I made for the year. Once a student completed 10 miles, they got their name on a foot up on the board. I also took pictures throughout the year of kids who participated. The Red part on the left was dedicated to my intramurals.

Each week I posted the activity we were doing along with the rules. I also posted the "Fair Play Pledge" that each class had to sign, along with pictures from different activities we did. With my 5th graders we did a big Ducks vs. Beaver Civil War football game in the fall that was a lot of fun. I picked student coaches who applied, and made them "play books" and the kids even sang the Star Spangled Banner before we started the big game :)
In our mileage club we had the goal of walking enough miles, as a school, to reach from our school in Oregon to Disney World, which is 3,079 miles. Students who

Our grand total was actually 2,440 miles because I had a couple of more finished cards after I took this picture. I only counted miles on cards that students finished and turned in, but there were a lot of students with unfinished cards that had a lot more miles on them.

We didn't quite make our goal, but we made it all the way to just past Nashville Tennessee! I had kids that were working really hard and running their whole recess to try to boost us right up until the end!

Part way through the year I decided to make a chart so classes could track where they were at. It definitely helped! My class that ended up in second place worked really hard to try to beat the 1st place class and they came really close! And oops--I just noticed my 3rd & 4th place are mixed up haha!
I had the best time running the mileage club and I will definitely miss the students and the school next year. I got a little teary eyed writing this post as I recalled the happy memories of my students' excitement and accomplishments throughout the year. I hope that I am able to build a strong sense of community at my new school and help get my students excited about being active next year!

Have a great weekend!
