San Jose del Cabo Mexico Vacation; Staying at the Worldmark Coral Baja

Holah! Como estas?
Estoy bien!
Today I'm starting to blog about our vacation to San Jose del Cabo, and our stay  at the Worldmark Coral Baja Resort. It was a great trip! As I have mentioned previously, I haven't traveled much and this was my first trip out of the U.S. I got my first stamp in my passport!
(and how adorable is my carry on below from modcloth?)
I surprised to see that much our view from the plan, after leaving San Jose, California, looked like this. Desert mountains, and ocean seeming to pop up right off of the cliffs. Oh, we also jumped ahead an hour during our flight.
Getting off the plane and arriving at the airport was a little chaotic, as the timeshare people grab you right away (yes we got suckered in to going one, but we got some free stuff in exchange). After setting up the appointment with the time share guy, we went out to find the drivers we had arranged ahead of time to pick us up. That was also chaotic, as there are cab drivers everywhere! All calling out if your ride is here, or trying to be "helpful" in helping you find your ride. Luckily our drivers found us, and it wasn't to long before we were on our way.
One thing that was surprising to me, was the extreme difference between the resorts, and the surround areas. A lot of the area was still run down from the hurricane that hit last year. The picture below, was just right next to our resort. Apparently there used to be a trailer park there, but the hurricane completely wiped it out.
The lobby in our resort was beautiful! When we arrived for check-in we were greeted with a margarita and a Pacifico! Reality check: we are in Mexico!!
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at the Coral Baja Resort. We have stayed at Worldmark and RCI resorts before, mostly just in Oregon, once in Carlsbad, but I am in love with the Coral Baja!
We got up to our room, set our things down, and then of course, I had to take pictures of everything--to the jesting of my husband, oh well, I don't care. I loved the decor of our room!
My husband thinks I'm weird for taking a picture of the tiles in the shower, but, I mean--hello? I love birds! I also love art and thought these were really cool.
The first of my crappy mirror pics. I loved this mirror though! My favorite shade of blue :)
The main room.
Frida. Love.
The view from our balcony!
Another view from our balcony.
Another view of our room, and my hubby :)
All settled in and ready for vacation!!
Once we checked out our room and got things unpacked, we headed down to the resort restaurant for lunch. We had been flying since 6 am that morning, so needless to say when we arrived to our room close to 3 pm, we were pretty hungry.
There were cute little birds that hung out all over our resort. We got to watch them while we ate.
Joel had a combination plate.
I had fish tacos, of course. They are my favorite; and they were delicious.
Outside on our balcony, I thought the reflection of the palms behind me were cool.
I woke up early every morning and sat out on our balcony and read, and watched the resort staff scrupulously clean and beautify the grounds. So much work goes into keeping it nice!
It was relaxing and quiet to be awake before the rest of the resort was screaming and laughing in the pool. To just hear the ocean waves and the breeze. God's creations are amazing.
We spent a lot of time sitting on our balcony, playing cribbage.
And thus ends our first day in Mexico. A little uneventful, mostly spent traveling, but oh what a wonderful evening once we got settled! How blessed we are to get to stay in such a beautiful place!
More Mexico to come!
Audios for now amigos!

Birthday Getaway: Lincoln City

Joel and I took at little one day mini-vaca mid week to celebrate my birthday a day early.
We stayed a night in poor man's Las Vegas at the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City.

Unfortunately, the room we booked was having some work done on it, so we had to stay in a smoking room :(
But the manager gave us a discount and free buffet for two.
So even though we had planned to eat dinner elsewhere, we couldn't pass up a free buffet ;)
P.S. I could probably start a blog dedicated solely to pictures of my husband
giving me a weird look because I'm trying to take a picture of our food.
After dinner we went for a walk on the beach at sunset.
I wanted a nice picture of myself on my 28th birthday...but every selfie I took, I looked soo tired, because guess what? I was!! So here's some goofy pics and a pic of how I felt about my selfies.
The next morning we had breakfast at the Seafood Grill at the casino.
We had a great view of the ocean from our seats.
I really liked the dining ware they served our food on.
Joel had a seafood omelette, and I had monkey style pancakes.
Usually I enjoy a savory breakfast, but I couldn't pass up salted caramel sauce with pecans and cinnamon sugar cream.
After checking out, we did some damage at the outlet mall, and then headed to beach to walk around some more, and try to burn off some of the calories we had consumed!
I finally wore the sequinned pineapple shirt I got at the H&M in the Forum Shops in Las Vegas.
Joel & I were both pretty tired, and as much as we love exploring, we also love our home.
So we came home early to enjoy the nice weather in our own backyard.
Joel made a delicious dinner, we played cribbage, and I actually painted my nails!
The Everett Oasis is coming together nicely.
I am very blessed to have such a wonderful husband.
It was so nice time to spend with him and to have a day off in the middle of a busy week!
I have a couple of more birthday posts to come, because I like to celebrate birthday week :)

4th of July & Seaside Brewing Company

For the 4th of July, we went up to visit my Husband's family.
We helped take our twin nephews on the max to the parade.
They were so cute. They were so excited to be going on the "train. When first max came by they were just screaming at it because they were so excited. And then we had to tell them we weren't going on that and we had to wait for the next one. It was torture for them to have to wait! They love Thomas the train :)
The parade was fun. Lots of kids, lots of candy, lots of red, white and blue!
We both got pretty sunburned though! Our chairs were in the sun & I forgot the sunscreen!
I had a cute festive outfit, but I didn't get any pictures of it!
We spent the rest of the day at the pool with a bunch of our nieces and nephews. It was relaxing and refreshing! I really didn't even lay out like this for long, because it was way to hot! Pool and shade for me :)
The next day, we went up to Seaside to visit Joel's uncle. They guys went out to Golf and my mother-in-law and I went and looked in all the shops. We found one adorable home decor shop that was decorated beautifully and the gal working was a hoot! We also went into couple of cool antique shops. Lots of pretty things. The weather was beautiful! We just walked down to the ocean and back. Then we all had lunch together at the Seaside Brewing Company.
I didn't take any pictures, so I just stole some off of their facebook page. On their website, it says that this building used to be the city jail! The weather was way nicer than it is in this picture :)
This is the inside near the bar.
This is the second story. We went out that door on the left and ate lunch on the deck.
I had a Honey Badger Blonde, and fish tacos. It was delicious!!
See how sunny it was? Such a nice day!

What did you do for the 4th?
Happy Tuesday!

Lincoln City Beach Trip

I talked my husband into going to the beach for a day this past weekend. We went to Lincoln City and the weather was beautiful!
We ate lunch at the famous "Mo's" and afterward walked down onto the beach. There were tons of seals lying on the beach just across the small channel! I have never seen seals this close up before outside of an aquarium!
They kept popping their heads up out of the water and floated there for a bit. It was almost like they were enjoying watching all of the people on the beach just as much as the people enjoyed watching them!

Me & the hubs :) It was really windy out--when the wind was blowing it was chilly but the sun was so bright it was still hot out when the wind stopped.
What I wore: Shirt: Old Navy // Shorts: Old Navy (old) similar // necklace: birthday gift from hubs, same one here //
We just sat & napped on the beach and watched all the different things happening. There was a guy Parasailing--is that what you call it?
 Toes in the sand

Napping!

We got ice cream before going home at this super cute little shop.

I think mermaids are real.

Glorious Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream!

So here's where I share my story about white shirts & spilling. A few years ago before Joel & I were married we went to Lincoln City for the day & I wore I white shirt and I spilled coffee on it when we got there. So we had to go to the outlet stores so I could buy a new shirt. Then the next weekend I wore a white shirt to church and I spilled coffee on it on the way there. So we have a rule that if I where white I'm supposed to bring an extra top haha. I thought I was so prepared because I brought my "Tide-to-go" pen, but this spill was beyond that. I was so proud of myself because I hadn't spilled all day and I was almost done with my ice cream, but I didn't say anything out loud because I was worried about jinxing it. Well I guess just thinking it jinxed me because the ice cream started to melt and I spilled on my white shirt!
Oh well, at least we were on our way home when it it happened! Next time we go to the beach I am NOT wearing white!! Or maybe I just shouldn't drink coffee & eat ice cream? It was Karma for eating calories I shouldn't have!
Happy Monday all!
