Peaceful Morning, Crazy Life

Today I am thankful for pumpkin spice coffee, and the fact that I don't have to be to work until 9:15. At least I can have relaxing mornings before I head of to my crazy life. Don't get me wrong, I love working with kids, and helping children to learn to love being physically active, and teaching dance, but the last couple of weeks have been pretty stressful. I'm hoping it calms down soon, but I have a feeling it's going to be a roller coaster of a year!

Happy Tuesday :)

Hippo Home Style

I had been eyeing this hippo bust on Modcloth for a very long time, and then when I finally had the money to buy it, they sold out. Several months ago I found it for a cheaper price on Amazon!
Me with my spirit animal :)
Diamonds are a girl's best friend? How about spray paint ;)
While the hippo does look nice white, I'm a girl who likes color, so I decided to go with something fabulous like metallic bronze.

I gave her some generous color.
And Voila! She is beautiful & ready to hang.
And this is why my home will never be featured in HGTV: I have an acrylic chandelier hanging over my lamp and the bust of a hippo hanging under a Maxwell Parish Print. Oh well, it makes me happy!
Here's to channeling your inner hippo today :)

Happy Monday!

Love is Patient, Love is Kind

I have an ugly confession to make. Sometimes I loose my temper and yell at my husband. It's embarrassing to admit. Every time it happens I always feel awful afterward and I don't know why I let myself get so worked up. I am grateful that he never loses is temper back, or says hurtful things to me. He always stays calm and is patient, and forgives me. I feel like God is showing me his love through my husband. Even though I sin and fall short of the Glory of God daily, He never "yell's back at me", He forgives me every time and shows me mercy. I often have a difficult time viewing God in personable ways, but when I think of how my husbands treats me when I am not very nice to him, I know that God is using him to show me His love and mercy. Thank you God for my husband. Please help me to control my temper and not use hurtful or unkind words when I am upset or angry. Please help me to be a better Wife to my husband.

Happy Tuesday!

Fall Wish List

I am dying this September because my husband and I don't get paid until the end of the month, and we are scraping by on what we have left from the summer. So many cute things and sales going on right now! I do not even look at any of the emails I get from stores because I don't want to see anything that I cannot purchase right now. That being said, I cannot hide from pinterest, and I have a list of fall trends that I would like to indulge in! Stripes, burgundy, denim, leopard and fringe, Oh my!
PS the vest is from JCrew & it's $108--I don't know if I could bring myself to spend that much on a vest, so I included a similar, less expensive version from Old Navy.

Happy Fall Y'all. Oh yeah & Happy Monday (if those exist!)

Fashion Friday

What I wore: Top: American Eagle Outfitters (from outlets) // Jeans: old // Beads: Gifted
A couple of weekends ago, we went to visit with my husbands family. My sister-in-law (who gave me these lovely beads for my birthday) and I went out to see the movie "If I Stay". We both cried not only during the movie but also during the preview of other movies. It was nice to be out with someone who's not giving me a a funny look or making fun of me for crying! "If I Stay" was a pretty good movie. I have to say it is one of the better dramatic love stories, and it was set in Portland, Oregon so of course I gotta love it!
These colors make feel like I'm channeling my inner Tinkerbell! I don't wear green very often, but the High School I am coaching at now has green & black for their colors so I am trying to work Green into my wardrobe more :)

Tonight I'm going to be a football widow so I suppose I will spend my Friday night with Zumba, and then clean my house to surprise my husband when he comes home--that's not to say it's surprising when I clean the house! I've had a busy week & he's been cooking dinner every night :)

Happy Friday!!!!!!

Home Decor

Over the summer, my mom & I went to the Two Sister's Treasures Sale just outside of my hometown. We love going to antique sales like this. It's fun to see how they state everything and to find fun items for the home.
We both fell in love with this hutch. It is so gorgeous. We love the mirror on the back and especially the little shelves on either side. My mom has vintage pink crystal lamps that were passed down to her from her Grandma that we thought would have looked perfect on the shelves. Unfortunately it was a little spendy--not an unreasonable price, just out of our prices ranges!
I ended up going home with the two little mirrors and the mirrored tray in this picture. I loved the little lipstick holder too, but unfortunately, none of my lipsticks are round.
Here's how I styled my finds!
I placed the mirrored tray on my nightstand along with a couple of pictures of me and my handsome husband.
I added the two small mirrors to the mirrors I already had hanging. I love mirrors, but I think my husband is getting tired of them, haha. Every time I bring one home, he says "another mirror?". Hopefully he just doesn't notice these two. ;)

Happy Thursday!

Wednesday Wisdom

Sometimes I feel as though I am just surviving. I'm sure I will feel like that often with teaching throughout this year. But my hope is that I will thrive no matter what because that is what we were created for.
God give me Strength & Wisdom!

Happy Wednesday!

PE Gym Decor

Here are the pictures of my gym decor that I talked about last week. I LOVE color, so I did everything in rainbow colors. I would love to add more eventually, but we'll see how long this stuff holds up without getting ripped down. I have also made posters on the components of fitness but I haven't put them up yet because they are heavy so I need something heavy duty to hold them up.

These are my levels of responsibility that I have for students to think about. They are supposed to "stay on green" which is level 4. Throughout the year I will have the show me what level they think they are at and record it for citizenship grades. Of course, we have to agree upon what level they were at for the day :)
This is my class motto for PE. I want my students to think of their class as a team and learn to work together and help each other to improve. I make them stand on the circle in the middle of the gym and we chant this together at the end of every class before we do our cool down.

So far, students are having issues regarding members of the opposite sex as "teammates"...we're going to have to work on that ;)
Happy Tuesday!

Civil War

Well folks, we survived our 1st half-week of teaching and now we on to our 1st full week! Despite not having much to say, things have slowly leaked out of my husband. He ended up having one class that a bunch of students were added to at the last minute and he didn't even have enough desks for all of them! I discovered that I have one 1st grade class that is going to be extremely difficult to manage.  The students are out of control to the point that all we got through last week in 45 minutes was move & freeze, and they didn't do so well at that. At this point the only thing I can think to do is to pray about it.
This past weekend we went to a family bbq in honor of the Beavers away game. Notice I said Beavers even though the ducks were playing as well. Pretty much everyone on my side of the family are Beavers fans. Joel was basically the lone Duck fan, but he did have company on this occasion as my cousin and her boyfriend sported some of that ugly green and yellow as well.
Yes, we are a house divided. And so begins the season of being a football widow and arguing over who is the better team (the ducks are better, but don't tell him I said that!). Oregon State is the better school.
I bleed orange til the day I die!
Go Beavers!

Happy Monday!

First Day of School

Alas, I have no children to take "first day of school" pics, but today, was the first day of teaching for BOTH me and my husband so I took pics of us :) He made fun of me. Long day for me! Straight after school I had a 2 hour dance team practice to coach, and then had to wait an hour for a booster club meeting so I didn't get home until almost 9 O'clock, and then I had to work on tweaking lesson plans for tomorrow. Hence, why I am just now posting this at almost 11 pm. When I finally got home, I tell my husband everything that happened today without breathing in about 10 minutes. I finished and ask how his 1st day of teaching went. His response: Fine
As a PE teacher, I don't really get to have cute "teaching" outfits. If I were a classroom teacher, I would probably wear a dress everyday. So I get my fashion fix through my sneakers. Here's a snap of my new school shoes :)
Had to take a "first day of school selfie" to show you my worst night mare: I ran out of hairspray!! So I have some fly aways that just wouldn't stay. As you can see I'm still a little sleepy as well.
Today was definitely a learning experience. Had one great class, a couple of so-so classes, and some big time chaos during mandatory PE recess. I think my favorite thing about the day, was when the other PE teacher introduced me to one of his classes, and he pointed to our white board (one half is mine & one half is his) and said "what do you notice about Mrs Everett?" One student raised his hand and said "She likes to decorate!" Ha! He's got me pegged! I wish I had a picture of my side of the board for you! I have a bunting banner and a quotes and I did everything in rainbow colors! I will have to take a pic to show you!

Even though today was Wednesday, it sure felt like Monday!
Hope you all are having a great back to school week!
