Birthday Cake & Presents

My mom & my little brother came over to celebrate my birthday with me last week, and they, along with my husband, spoiled me like a little girl. I mean look at this super cute cake!
I was so tired, when I finally got home from teaching school & then dance that, even though they offered to go out somewhere, I really just wanted to eat pizza with my family at home, so that's what we did! Look at the beautiful wrapping!
I am definitely bragging right now, but look at the nice gifts that they gave me!
Joel surprised me with a Betsy Johnson purse I've had my eye on, and a Seahawks sweatshirt.
My mom gave me cute storage boxes, an awesome monkey bank, and a teaching plaque and mug.
My Grandma gave me the beautiful necklace and earrings.
Any my youngest brother gave me a beautiful leather bound copy of the Wizard of Oz.
These boxes are so me. My mom gets me. I already have stuff I need to sort through in them haha.
The pages of the Wizard of Oz book are soo pretty! If you look closely, they are not only foiled, but sparkly as well. Also, Emerald is my birthstone!
I decorated my bar cart in festive pink for my birthday month :)
The pennant banner was an impulse by from Target.
My new monkey is perfect for the bar cart! I love it!
I love my family! It was so refreshing to visit with them. I've been feeling stressed and down on myself lately about some things that are beyond my control and it was so nice to be reminded on my birthday that I have a lot of family and friends who love and support me.
My birthday week may be over...
but why not celebrate it all month right?
Happy Monday!

Valentine's Day Sweet Breakfast Treat

Hello there! I've been MIA on here for a while! I'm in the thick of dance team season so it's been a busy month so far. This year I have decided to break up my Valentine posts instead of one big spew of pictures. Joel took me to a brunch at a local winery this year, we have been wanting to try it out for a while and it actually sold out, but fortunately, some of Joel's friends ended up with extra tickets so we got to go. I woke up pretty early on my own, so I decided to surprise Joel with a light breakfast in bed to hold us over until brunch later in the day.
Hot chocolate, and mini bagels with strawberry cream cheese--with a dash of red sprinkles on both, just to make it a little prettier :)
I found the pink tray  at Target in the "dollar" section for $3.
I love having an excuse to use paper straws. I'm kind of a paper straw hoarder. I think they're so pretty so I buy them all the time, but then I hardly use them. I need to have more parties I think ;)
...And add an Instagram filter for a little extra magic hehe.

Birthday Celebration 4

We have finally reached the end of my birthday celebrations...
We ended with a celebratory brunch for the May birthdays on my husband's side of the family over Memorial Day Weekend.
We celebrated at my brother-in-law's & sister-in-law's home. They just expanded this room and received this beautiful handmade table made by my sister-in-law's father, and added a beautiful light fixture. Swoon. It has become a family favorite for get togethers.
Family get togethers with my husbands family are always filled with tons of cute children eager to help open presents and blow out candles ;) We are officially the last of the sibling to have children!!

Oh, and did I mention we have 2 sets of twin nephews??
I am definitely in a pink stage of life. Our family spoiled me with so many lovely things!! I was so surprised!
Another funny gift story, my sister-in-law's know me so well, they both got me the same thing!
Cutest iron man I've ever seen.
One of my sister-in-laws makes and sells her own jewelry and she gifted me some of her bracelets! She is so stylish. Check out thewayweare.co to see more!
Finished off the birthday celebration basking in the sun with mimosas. Perfect end to a wonderful week of glorious birthday!

Happy Tuesday :)

Lovely things; some pink, some turquoise, some mint

Happy Friday everyone! I'm just going to share a few lovely things with you today :)
First off, I have to share this lovely little rose that was a gift from one of my 2nd grade students for teacher appreciation week. I adore flowers, and I was so pleased that she thought of me. It was the first gift I have received from a student, and it totally made my day!
Next, I have a funny little story to share about some of the things in this picture. The bird mug, the tea sampler, and the beads were all birthday presents that I received from my sister-in-laws last year. It's funny because, right before my birthday, I had posted a picture of the gift I got my Mom for Mother's Day. I had bought my Mom the bird mug and the tea sampler, and my sister-in-law bought me both things before she had even seen my mother's day post! What was funny about the beads, is that the day we were meeting for my birthday I was wearing similar beads only in pink! So both of my sister-in-laws knew I was going to laugh when I opened my presents. What can I say, they know me well!
I'm getting my hair done tomorrow and I was planning to back to more blonde, but I don't know, this natural color is starting to grow on me. I still don't know what I'm doing! I cant decide if I want to grow my hair out or keep it short. Decisions, decisions.

Hope you have an excellent weekend!

Fashion Friday: Pink House Cafe

Last Sunday, Joel surprised me by suggesting we go to one of my favorite little cafes, "The Pink House Cafe" to celebrate my teaching position moving to full time for next year. It was a beautiful spring day.
The inside is decorated very cute with old pictures and paintings. It's the perfect place to go for coffee and dessert.
I had a pink lemonade and chicken curry salad with fruit and a delicious slice of olive bread.
I've been trying to make an effort lately to make outfits from items of clothing that I've owned for a while but don't wear very often, so everything I'm wearing is old, aside from the wallet I just bought from Charming Charlie. I actually have had the heels since my senior year in high school!
Happy Friday everyone!

Valentines Day Outfit 1

Valentines Day morning, My mom & I went to watch my old dance team compete at a local competition. I used it as an excuse to to have 2 Valentines Day outfits :)
Lipstick: Mabelline Fuchsia Flash
What I wore: Blazer: Target (old) // Shirt: Walmart // Shoes: Old Navy (old) // Purse: Anniversary gift from my Husband :)
It's always nice spending time with my mom. We had lunch together and made a quick Target trip. I'm thankful that she's patient enough to take more than one picture so that I can get a good one ;)
Posting on my Valentine date night tomorrow :)
Happy President's Day!
