Saying Goodbye at McMenamin's Old Church and Pub

Last Sunday, my family went to church--Old Church Mcmenains in Wilsonville to have a send of for my younger brother who is headed of to India for 3 months. He is going to be the camera man for a documentary called Trading Dishes (check it out here!)

Mcmenamin's restaurants are always decorated so cool.

It was such a beautiful day out, the sun was gorgeous! Perfect weather for pictures :)
Me & my brothers in age order, obviously not height order haha.
I love my family!

Oscars 2015

Well, I have to say, I thought this year's Oscars Awards Ceremony was a tad on the boring side. I didn't really think there were any to die for drop dead gorgeous dresses like last year, and most of the movies that were up for nomination, I hadn't seen yet (aside from Grand Budapest Hotel). I have scanned through some red carpet looks and I picked out the ones I liked, which was only 8. So here are my top 8 in no particular order.

These 4 dresses were in my top 8 because: 1. They all have a yellow hue, which is one of my favorite colors and it is usually not worn. 2. Sparkles, shimmer, floral. That is all.
These 4 dresses were in my top 8 because: 1. Classic & Elegant 2. Octavia Spencer: Full coverage

Maybe someday I'll have my act together and throw a super cute Oscar party, where we drink champagne, dress up, eat classy appetizers, and make predictions. Today was not that day.

I'm really not ready for Monday this week, but...
Happy Monday anyway :)

Fashion Friday

My goodness, we have had some beautiful weather this week!
We had Monday off from school for President's Day so I took advantage of the free time and bit the bullet and got a walk in appointment at the salon down the street from me. I couldn't handle the mullet anymore! I don't know if I will ever grow my hair long again because I HATE the transition stage. I didn't color it because I wanted to go to my dear friend who usually does my hair for color. It feels so good to have short hair again!
What I wore: Sweater: Target // Leggings: Forever21 // Boots: Nine West (old)
 Happy Friday!

Favorite Things February

Today I am sharing some of my favorite purchases from the last couple of months.
Many of my purchases are from Target. This is what happens when there is a Target
one minute away from where you work and you have time to kill between work and coaching
on a weekly basis. You end up making impulse purchases.
These leggings are from the juniors section in Target. I have started to like crazy leggings lately. I can't really wear them to school or anything, but I like to wear them when I teach dance classes at the studio or when I take Zumba classes. They are fun.
I also bought this Pacifica face wash at Target. I've been blessed with fairly nice skin so I haven't really used a ton of face wash products in my life, but I love this one! First of all it smells heavenly. It smells like coconut and vanilla and almond cherry, I love using it simply because it smells so good. Second, it really does a great job at removing makeup and it is gentle and feels good on my skin. Last, the packaging is pretty ;)
I have been eying this rug from Urban Outfitters for about 2 years now! They had a sale on rugs in January and I had enough money saved up from teaching dance classes so, even though my husband doesn't really like rugs, he went ahead and let me get it. It's not a super nice rug, it kind of a cheapo material, but for our rental house it is perfect. I love the colors and it covers up some of the ugly old green carpet.
I have never really been a candle person, but  lately my husband and I have started to like them. I purchased this candle at Target after smelling the entire isle. It smells sooo good. It also is pretty strong so the whole downstairs smells lovely whenever we light it. I'm not really into scents like "spun sugar" or "bubblegum", this candle smells sophisticated and romantic if you could put those two words into a scent.
I bought these leggings on line from Dance wear Solutions because I wanted to wear them for Valentines week, either to teach class in or for Zumba or something just for fun. Unfortunately, my husband and I lost our mail key so these beauties were sitting in my mail box for almost a week until we found it yesterday. Oh well, I guess I will get to where them for Valentines next year, in the mean time I will most definitely wear them for dance!
Last I have another Valentines impulse purchase. This is little adorable pink cans of sparkling wine. I love to give them as gifts because they are so cute. So, I bought some for myself for Valentines day. I haven't drank them yet. I will save them for a special occasion where I am feeling extra girly :)

Valentines Day Date Night

My hubs & I wanted to go out somewhere special for Valentines Day, but like I mentioned in an earlier post, everywhere we called into was already full! When I got home from the dance competition, my hubby called in to a local place to check if they had any cancellations, and they did! He called at 4 and the opening was for 5 so we kinda had to skedaddle to get ready, but luckily it is close by so we were not too rushed.
The floral kimono I'm wore is actually something I bought to wear for Valentines Day last year but I decided I didn't have the right outfit to pull it off so I wore something else. I'm glad I finally figured out how to wear it this year!
What I wore: Kimono: Forever21 (old) // Dress: Target (old) // Belt: Betsy Johnson from Marshals (old) // Heels: Christian Siriano for Payless (old) // Clutch: Target (new!) //
Car selfies, ha. The sun was setting so the light was hitting me in weird ways. I originally put on MAC "snob" lipstick, but I felt it was a little too pale of a pink so I added a rose colored Loreal lipstick over the top. I'm wearing MAC eyeshadow from a travel palette I bought last year. The base color is "bordello", the highlight color is "skimp" and the crease is "lost" . The sunlight threw off the true colors a bit, but "bordello" is a mauve-y pink color, and the "lost" is kind of a purple-y brown color.

The restaurant we ate at is called "Latitude One". It's in a very small but cute down town area.

I loved the decor of the restaurant. My husband and I both love the old exposed brick and I LOVED all of the pretty mirrors they had hanging on the wall.
I love twinkling lights and this handsome guy :)
Just another little nook.
I decided to go outside my box and I ordered a pomegranate martini, it was a little too sweet for my taste, but it was still yummy.
We had a four course meal starting with cheese, bread and fruit, then we both had lobster bisque with a little bit of caviar, the main course was a pork but (it was delicious) and we finished with a special Valentines dessert to share.
Adorable.
I love him.
My husband bought me pretty roses for the Valentines day and we finished the night at home with wine and the NBA all star game (or maybe it was the skills challenge, I don't remember, we watched both this weekend, haha!)
I bought this wine at Cost Plus World Market around Christmas time because I thought the labeling was pretty. I decided Valentines Day was an appropriate time to bust it out.
Finishing off this post with my Valentines tradition. Ever since our first Valentines Day together, I make Joel his favorite dessert, Grasshopper pie. I never really follow one recipe, so it's a little different every year, that's part of the surprise ;) This year we already had dessert at dinner so we saved for later. I get to have one piece, and then I save the rest for him since it's his gift--it was so good!

I hope you all had a splendid Valentines/Galentines/President's Day weekend!
Back to the grind! Happy Tuesday :)

Valentines Day Outfit 1

Valentines Day morning, My mom & I went to watch my old dance team compete at a local competition. I used it as an excuse to to have 2 Valentines Day outfits :)
Lipstick: Mabelline Fuchsia Flash
What I wore: Blazer: Target (old) // Shirt: Walmart // Shoes: Old Navy (old) // Purse: Anniversary gift from my Husband :)
It's always nice spending time with my mom. We had lunch together and made a quick Target trip. I'm thankful that she's patient enough to take more than one picture so that I can get a good one ;)
Posting on my Valentine date night tomorrow :)
Happy President's Day!

Valentine's Day Decor

I got crafty Sunday night & finally finished a painting I started last spring. If you have been following my blog you my remember be posting about here. I decided to add some glitter because, glitter makes everything better :)
Here's my little big of Valentine's Day decor for this year. I made all of the canvas art. I made the "LOVE" art last February. It was my second blog post! Read it here.
I have a bunch of these little quote cards about love. They are left over from my wedding. I had them on all of the tables at my reception.

This year, since Valentine's Day is on a Saturday I thought maybe my husband and I would go somewhere special because we actually have time! Unfortunately, since we really have never gone anywhere for Valentine's Day (besides our local winebar), we didn't realize that every place was already going to be booked when we tried to make reservations! Alas, our Valentine's plans are up in the air. Are any of you doing anything special/fun?
Hope you have a happy Friday & a lovely Valentine's Day weekend :)
